Vous vous souviendrez sûrement que des tentatives de rapprochements avaient été faites par BugBug et d'autres avec Casio et ses ingénieurs . Mais notre façon de procéder avait été un peu brutale (Spamming, petition en anglais digne de Fernando di Pessoa ou Louis de Funès).

J'ai donc envoyé un message directement à un ingénieur Casio, P.Carrocas, et voici cette missive :

"Dear Mr Carrasco



This mail represents an attempt from the global Casio Community to establish a collaboration between Casio ingeneers and conceptors, and the Web, which today has become a power that cannot be ignored.



Our group is composed of about 400 people, Graph100 or FX2 owners, depending on their being Frenchies or else. We are honestly and truly thankful to Casio Inc, whose Scientific Calculator most evoluted has become one of our most useful help for school.



However, given that even the best things can only improve, we tried, and managed, to glance at what could lie beneath. In other words, we intruded into the Calculator, by the mean of your “Add-In Installer”.



What did we find ?? Simply the Operating System of the FX2, called as you must know “RomDos”, and edited by Datalight. Once we had read the docs from this development company, not difficult was the creation of some little programs and the sending to the Calc.



We know that FX2 supports ASM, C, C++, and even some Pascal functions.



We also know that the monster hides a Nec V30 processor, and we know everything about Ram, different Roms, communication ports and interruptions …



As a proof of what I am saying, you will please find an archive attached to this message. This archive contains one of our PC-to-Calc communication programs, “Flash Editor” by LeadFiner, and a copy of what you can find now in MY calculator. As you can see, the teenagers we are have only, for the time being, developed games, with the notable exception of 2072’s “Touche”, which is one of the most efficient and satisfactory program today for G100.



You would easily understand that our aim is not to work against Casio Inc, or even to disturb it. The only request we might have would be you to help us a little, for things to improve faster.



You will probably know that one of your concurrents, Texas Instruments, had always fought against Web users, until the time they decided to work together, and saw their sales multiplied by two, due to the large amount of people interested in a calculator that they could work on, as welle as they could play.



We perfectly know that you don’t aim to produce GameBoys, which is not indeed what we would like too. We only need some informations about the calculator, that you could easily give us while we would spare years to find out …



I personally know that this is not a real offer for you, given that Casio has finally few to take advantage of in this affair. As you will see, our community is growing up very fast. You can help its first steps …
